22nd – Religions of the World: 22nd February is the commencement of Lent. Come join this event for an interactive look into religions from around the world. (Middle Primary to Secondary)
3rd — International Math Day: An entertaining event which will have your math students learning about Tessellation, Geometry, Algebra and more through games and interactive competitions between schools. Presented by Tenix Questacon Math Squad. (Middle Primary to Lower Secondary)
4th – 9th — World Foreign Languages Week: Interested in collaborative Videoconferences on specific languages? Languages in these sessions include: French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin. (If you are interested in these sessions, please email Lynnette.Whitfield@polycom.com, specifying which grade, as we will tailor make the event for the grades with the most interest)
8th — International Women's Day: Meet Women in the Asia Pacific region who have influenced the past and made the world a better place to live in. Subjects to include; Inventors, Women Composers, Scientists, Aerospace, Health specialists, Musicians, Artists, CEO's, etc. (Upper Middle to Secondary)
20th — World Earth Day: How can your school make a difference on this day? Environmental Content Providers will present an interactive session for schools to share their ideas and discuss what they are doing for this internationally recognised day. (Primary to Secondary, Grade 5 – 8)
18th — International Museum Day: Come see some of Australia's museums and learn of their programs available for Virtual Excursions or Outreach. Museums to include Museum of Contemporary Art, Australian National Maritime Museum and National Museum of Australia. More Museums joining us in 2012. (Suitable for Teacher PD)
24rth – May 25th — Asian Festival of Children's Content: Collaborative event where students in Australia will interact with students from Asia. Learn about Calligraphy, History, Language and Culture. This session will be in Mandarin and/or other Asian languages. (Three events suitable for Primary, Middle and High School grades / max 3 schools per session / Upper Primary to Lower Secondary)
5th — World Environment Day: This event will be an interactive discussion on important Environmental issues, to be presented by our Environment Content Providers; ReefHQ, Green Gross Australia, and Questacon. (All grades – various programs)
6th — Transit of Venus: Presented by Charles Sturt University Remote Telescope Project. A Transit of Venus across the sun takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and Earth obscuring a small portion of the solar disk. During a transit, Venus can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the sun. The next time this happens isn't for 105 years i.e. December, 2117 (Suitable for Science and Astronomy classes all grades)
13th – 17th — National Science Week: Content Providers specialising in Science will present interactive sessions via Live videoconference; Questacon, VSSEC and others. (Various programs for Primary to Secondary)
20th – 24th — 3rd Annual Polycom Literary Festival:"Ask the Author" and writing workshops celebrating Children's Book Council Week. (Sessions for all grades)
21st — International Day of Peace: Polycom is hosting an "Asia Pacific Youth Forum on Peace" which will provide an opportunity for students to voice their concerns and view on Peace in their own language. (Upper Middle to Secondary)
4th – 12th — World Space Week: Opportunity for Science Teachers to incorporate this event into your curriculum and meet Scientists and Space specialists from around the world. Meet an Astronaut, talk to a Mission Specialist, and learn about careers in this industry. (Grade 9-12)
25th - Nov 4th — World Music, International Music Council Week: Music students will now have an opportunity to learn and hear music from around the globe LIVE, as well as share their music with others. This week will also have a global event "Music Around the Planet". (Programs for all ages)
